Being Odd Was Never So Good

In decorating, odd is definitely not wrong. A good tip in hanging pictures, arranging objects or placing candles as a centerpiece is to hang or place in groups of three’s or five’s or seven’s. Odd numbers are more pleasing to the eye and bring balance and order to any arrangement.

The Orientals are known for their ability to create calming environments with their art of Feng Shui. Feng Shui is called the “Art of Placement,” that balance is used in decorating in putting the life energies in a living space by the balancing of five elements, including fire, earth, metal, water and wood. Five is considered the number of completion and you will find many place settings in the Oriental home in groups of five.

So when it comes to decorating, be the odd man out, and be in.
